What our Academy players are saying
Jonathan Tattersall - Yorkshire CCC
Having the chance to play and practice as part of the future stars high purpose academy in an overseas environment has been a fantastic experience. To get high quality coaching with an international and first class approach in both the mental and technical side of the game in a different country to my norm has given me more food for thought about the game.
Being able to come to different places in the world and still get high quality coaching is great for any player as well as doing this in different playing conditions is a great test. Being able to play at first class grounds against a high standard of opposition is a fantastic insight into the professional game and gives a great flavour of what can be in the future.
It's been a great experience to train, play and live like a professional cricketer which is what Future Stars have done. It's a great academy for any cricketer who is aspiring to play at the top level as I am. Being able to improve with advanced technical work but also work on "processes" in the mental side of the game is something that is focused on highly but will help my game hugely in my search for the top flight performances.
Callum Asbury - Australia/Victoria Deaf Cricket Team member
I have had David and Future Stars Cricket Academy as my ultimate resource for all three skill sets batting, bowling and fielding since 2014.
I was introduced to cricket specific strength and conditioning which helped me understand my bodies strengths and limitations.
My bowling skills improved significantly with my pace ,rhythm, line-and-length and accuracy all improving .
Dave's an outstanding coach and the ongoing support he and his colleagues at Future Stars have provided has been instrumental in my selection in Victoria Deaf team and now 2018 Australians World Cup T20 selection.
Thank you David and Team FS
Mark Watt - Scotland/Lancashire
During my two month period with Future Stars Cricket Academy I thoroughly enjoyed the professionalism and creativity of the different types of training sessions on offer.
I experienced great one to one sessions, including power hitting which helped me massively.
I was also able to gain a insight into the Big Bash when the squad flew to Hobart to play T20 fixtures against the BBL team Hobart hurricanes.
The Future Stars programme offers a great opportunity for young and upcoming players to gain quality coaching and play against highly skilled professionals
Rob Keogh - Northamptonshire CCC
'Going out to Australia is always a good experience for young cricketers, but it makes the stay more beneficial when you get to work closely with a high quality coach. I was fortunate enough to have worked hard on all aspects of my game with David throughout my stay in Melbourne. Not only technical but the mental side of the game too. It always helps to be coached by someone who has played the game to the standard in which I want to achieve and I felt that with his experience and knowledge of the game that he was a superb coach and model for me. I went from working with David in Melbourne all winter back to the English summer and had one of my better seasons. Making my first, first class century Scoring 221 V Hampshire 2013. I can't wait to work with him again soon!'.
Cheers Dave
Will Tavare - Gloucestershire CCC
I’ve been lucky enough to have had two seasons in Melbourne playing first grade cricket. Since first meeting and getting to work with David I scored 1000 runs for Gloucestershire CCC 2Xl 2013 and was awarded my first county contract. After another winter in Melbourne captaining and playing alongside David I got to learn massive amounts about both the game and my skills. On returning to the UK in 2014 I started in the 1Xl for Gloucestershire scoring 139 on debut in the county championship. I’m sure playing and training with David made me look differently at my game and make the necessary strides forwards. Cheers David.
